The Long Editing Journey

On Becoming an Editor

Over the last six months, I have been learning how to become an editor. I have always loved writing and stories, but learning about the editing process has helped me love all the parts that make good stories even better. The editing classes I have taken are also helping me in my own long editing journey.

I have taken a class with the Editor Freelance Association on Developmental Editing. I loved learning how to look at the big picture stuff. In going over my current projects, it has helped me see my stories with new eyes. I can’t wait to help other writers with their books!

Current Projects

My current projects: Mage Bond Book 3, The Ashes of Minthran is with readers. Once it is back, I will make some adjustments on it and then publish it. That will wrap up the Mage Bond Trilogy. I have been working on that series for almost fifteen years.

While I am waiting, I am editing a new book that I wrote a couple of years ago. It is different from my other books in that it is a YA contemporary book. I’m calling it a Gaming Romance as tabletop role playing games play a significant role in the story.

Here’s a quick summary:

When sixteen-year-old, Ari’s crush brings his cousin, Colby to join their tabletop roleplaying gaming group, it is dislike at first sight. His character is an insufferable, sneaky rogue. As Ari navigates life after losing a parent, her gaming group is what helps her get through. And as she grows closer to Colby, she has to figure out, is it he who annoys her, or his character? How can she possibly fall for someone who frustrates her so much?
