Early morning story
At two o’clock in the morning, I was wide awake. Not on purpose, but my little one was restless. Once he settled back to sleep, snuggled on my arm, two things happened. First, I was wide awake. Like middle of the afternoon wide awake. And second, I had an awesome story idea.
It was one of those ideas that rattles around in your head, loud and unstoppable. Every time I closed my eyes, more of the story came to me. It will be a while before it is written and edited and ready for the world, but here are some hints about it.
It’s a young adult novel.
The genre is sci-fi with a flair of old timey western feel. There will be romance. Unless I’m writing middle grade, my books will have romance. I love a good love story.
There will be the world’s most annoying Sentry Droid, a mystery, and wonderfully shocking plot twists

I’ve found my favorite part of the writing process is somewhere between the first draft and second draft. In the first draft, the idea is new and fresh. I am getting to know the world and characters and uncovering all the plot points.
And in the second draft when it starts coming together and the broken pieces are smoothed out.
The next parts take more work and aren’t as new and exciting, which is why I have so many books at this stage.
My current book count
- Published: 2
- Waiting to be Queried or Published: 3

Goal: Move some of those numbers by next month.
What is your writing goal for October?
Write it in the comments so I can cheer you on too!
